A Mathematics Major demonstrates to future employers that a candidate possesses strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Graduates of the program have secured positions in actuarial science, computer science, economics, statistics, and related fields.
The field of mathematics encompasses a broad spectrum of disciplines, including algebra, analysis, combinatorics and discrete mathematics, and differential equations.
The highest level of specialization within the program is the Honours degree. Honours programs prepare students for direct entry into graduate studies leading to a Master’s or Ph.D. Students in the Honours Mathematics program have the opportunity to undertake independent study, enhancing their reading and problem-solving abilities while exploring areas of particular personal interest.
