The liberal education model at Bishop’s University encourages students to pursue multiple degrees, making it possible to combine a Major in Mathematics with another Major without extending the length of the degree. Bishop’s offers an exceptional university experience that integrates academic excellence with a vibrant student life.
In today’s knowledge-based economy, a strong foundation in mathematics opens the door to a wide range of career opportunities. A Mathematics Major demonstrates to future employers that a candidate possesses strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Graduates of the program have secured positions in actuarial science, computer science, economics, statistics, and related fields.
The field of mathematics encompasses a broad spectrum of disciplines, including algebra, analysis, combinatorics and discrete mathematics, and differential equations.
The highest level of specialization within the program is the Honours degree. Honours programs prepare students for direct entry into graduate studies leading to a Master’s or Ph.D. Students in the Honours Mathematics program have the opportunity to undertake independent study, enhancing their reading and problem-solving abilities while exploring areas of particular personal interest.
