Red River College Polytechnic - South Winnipeg
The Culinary Skills International program is a one-year certificate offered at RRC Polytech’s Paterson Global Foods campus in Winnipeg, with an April intake. The program includes a four-month paid co-op work placement and offers credit transfer opportunities to further studies, such as the Culinary Arts Diploma, Hospitality and Tourism Management program, and select university pathways.
The program is designed to prepare students for employment in the culinary industry by developing fundamental cooking techniques, industry knowledge, and basic business skills. Training is delivered through a combination of classroom-based theory and hands-on lab practice. Students also earn industry-recognized certifications, including Food Handler Level 1, WHMIS, First Aid, and Fire Safety.
During the first two terms, students focus on building practical culinary skills alongside theoretical learning. The final term consists of a paid co-op placement with an industry partner, where students gain real-world experience and apply their skills in a professional kitchen environment.
