The Health Care Aide and Personal Support Worker program prepares students to provide patient-centred care and support individuals with diverse and complex needs across various healthcare settings. The curriculum is aligned with current industry practices and emphasizes the development of essential caregiving, communication, and interpersonal skills required to work effectively within an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Students receive hands-on training that builds a strong foundation in human health, daily living support, and patient care techniques. The program focuses on promoting well-being, assisting with routine activities, and delivering safe, respectful, and responsive care tailored to individual needs.
A key component of the program includes two preceptor-led practicum placements, where students gain real-world experience in healthcare environments. Upon completion, graduates are well-prepared to enter the workforce with the practical skills and confidence required for a career in patient care.
