The Academic Accelerator Program (AAP) is a balanced first-year program for international students with good English-language skills. It supplements immersive classes taught in English with just the right amount of support. As a student in the Academic Accelerator, one will receive the right amount of support for academic and English-speaking needs, a full year’s worth of college credits, access to courses exclusively for international students, English-language help with necessary words for classes, and a mix of classes with international and U.S. students.
The Louisiana State University Computer Science undergraduate program is offered through the College of Engineering and provides students with various opportunities to take courses in core and applied areas of computer science, as well as research, summer internships, and co-ops. The program offers a flexible plan of study through the mandatory selection of one of four concentrations: Software Engineering (SE) Concentration, Cloud Computing and Networking (CCN) Concentration, Data Science and Analytics (DSA) Concentration, and Computer Science and Second Discipline Concentration. By graduation, students will demonstrate abilities in applying knowledge of computing and mathematics, analyzing problems, designing and implementing computer-based systems, functioning effectively on teams, understanding professional and ethical issues, communicating effectively, analyzing the impact of computing, engaging in professional development, using current techniques and tools, applying mathematical foundations, and applying design and development principles in software systems.
The Cloud Computing and Networking concentration focuses on cloud computing as a virtual server located remotely, separating services to allow developers access to various components for creating customizable applications. Cloud computing utilizes multiple computers distributed in real-time to provide services to users. Businesses are increasingly adopting cloud computing for its efficiency, cost-savings, scalability, flexibility, redundancy, reliability, and security benefits. Cloud computing is a specialized form of distributed computing.
