Bachelor of Midwifery

Mount Royal University

What you will study

In Alberta’s only midwifery degree program, students work with faculty and practicing midwives to blend theory with practice, providing care to childbearing people and their families.

This degree prepares students to become a primary-care provider in the growing field of midwifery. Graduates are prepared to write the Canadian Midwifery Registration Examination and become registered midwives.

Practicum experience: Beginning in the second year of the program, students will be required to be on-call during their practicum experiences. This requires full-time commitment and means being available 24h per day, 7 days per week. Students may work for extended hours. Students will practice at a variety of placement sites, which may mean traveling and living outside of the city. Student will also be required to drive in urban and rural areas, at all times of day and night.
