Georgian College - Design and Digital Arts Centre (Barrie Downtown)
In this program, students develop their creative abilities and artistic skills using current digital tools and a variety of traditional media. Through creative coursework and hands-on studio practice, they build skills in drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, digital art, 3D modelling, 3D printing, photography and extended reality, including virtual and augmented reality. Experiential art studios and specialized media labs provide practical environments in which students can develop essential visual arts skills and bring their artistic visions to life.
The campus gallery allows students to engage with the work of contemporary artists and provides opportunities to showcase student work. Through immersive, leading-edge arts education, students develop critical thinking, social innovation and entrepreneurial skills that support success across a range of visual arts professions.
Graduates may pursue careers as studio assistants, gallery preparators, photographers’ assistants, set decorators, concept artists, teaching assistants, digital illustrators or sales professionals. With a broad foundation in the creative application of digital and visual arts media, graduates may also pursue further education in a related artistic discipline or establish an independent professional studio art practice.
