Georgian College - Design and Digital Arts Centre (Barrie Downtown)
The field of game development focuses on bringing digital worlds to life by combining creative, technical and artistic skills to build interactive environments. Game developers create unique gaming experiences by integrating levels, characters, assets, props and systems for platforms such as computers, consoles and mobile devices.
The Game – Development program guides students through the process of transforming game ideas and simulation concepts into compelling experiences. Students learn to develop narratives, create and manage 2D and 3D digital assets, and apply techniques in lighting and rendering, game artificial intelligence and multiplayer networking. They also explore serious games and emerging technologies, preparing graduates to create innovative, immersive and visually engaging game worlds.
Through hands-on experience with advanced game engines and design tools, students develop practical skills in game mechanics and dynamics. These transferable skills can also support the development of simulations for industries such as architecture, engineering, healthcare, manufacturing, education and training. Upon completion, graduates are prepared to pursue opportunities in the gaming industry and other related fields.
