Advanced College Diploma - Child and Youth Care (CYCA)

Students learn to work with children and youth who experience social, emotional, and behavioural challenges that may be connected to mental health, cognitive or neurodevelopmental issues, socioeconomic factors, trauma, abuse, or involvement with the justice system. The Child and Youth Care program prepares learners to engage with at-risk children, youth, and their families in diverse settings, supporting them as they navigate challenges, build on strengths, and create positive change. Throughout the program, students explore and apply evidence-informed therapeutic prevention and intervention strategies grounded in principles of risk and resiliency, the ecological perspective, relational practice, human development, family systems, equity and inclusion, and exceptionalities. The curriculum emphasizes experiential and interactive learning, community engagement, and opportunities for social innovation, entrepreneurship, and changemaking.
