Georgian College - Barrie
Это описание есть только на английском языке.
Students learn to work with children and youth who experience social, emotional, and behavioural challenges that may be connected to mental health, cognitive or neurodevelopmental issues, socioeconomic factors, trauma, abuse, or involvement with the justice system. The Child and Youth Care program prepares learners to engage with at-risk children, youth, and their families in diverse settings, supporting them as they navigate challenges, build on strengths, and create positive change. Throughout the program, students explore and apply evidence-informed therapeutic prevention and intervention strategies grounded in principles of risk and resiliency, the ecological perspective, relational practice, human development, family systems, equity and inclusion, and exceptionalities. The curriculum emphasizes experiential and interactive learning, community engagement, and opportunities for social innovation, entrepreneurship, and changemaking. Graduates are prepared to work with children, youth, and families in a wide variety of settings, including: • Public and private schools • Group homes and residential centres • Foster care agencies • Day and live-in treatment programs • Youth detention centres • Community-based child and youth development programs • Early intervention and recreational programs • Psychiatric and rehabilitation centres • Pediatric health care facilities • Home-based care, respite, and treatment services • Private practice
