What you will study
The stimulating Mechanical Engineering (Automotive) BEng degree programme is designed to give students a thorough background in Mechanical Engineering and the expertise and knowledge to develop and implement new automotive technologies. This course provides students with the skills to deliver results in an ever-changing industry. Students will benefit from a research-led culture, which informs the way the programme is taught. The University of Birmingham's expertise in applying engineering science will equip students with the ability to solve problems of industrial and societal significance. Students will work alongside Civil and Electrical Engineers, this interdisciplinary working reflects industry practices and right from the very start will begin building their teamworking and professional skills alongside their technical knowledge. The opportunity is also open to students to get involved in work on UBRacing – the University of Birmingham's Formula Student racing team, which competes throughout the world. Students will be the subject expert on a major project during the Mechanical Engineering (Automotive) degree where they will apply their in-depth technical knowledge. This will provide students with vital employability skills that will give them a competitive edge in applications forms, interviews and assessment tests for graduate jobs.
