Master of Science - Gemmology

The Master’s programme in Gemmology is designed to equip students with the tools and techniques required to conduct research at the forefront of their chosen area within the field.

Based at Birmingham’s Assay Office in the historic Jewellery Quarter, the course provides access to purpose-built facilities and advanced equipment typically found in research laboratories. Through established industry connections, students may also gain access to an extended range of specialist tools and resources.

The programme focuses on the investigation of gemmological questions and theories through a combination of literature-based, peer-reviewed research and practical testing. Students are supported by experienced tutors who are recognised industry professionals, offering a high level of subject expertise and guidance.
