Overview

The Master of Public Health (MPH) programme is designed to enhance career prospects by preparing graduates for senior roles at operational, policy, or commissioning levels across a wide range of sectors. With public health research and practice playing a central role in addressing global health challenges, the course aims to develop the knowledge and skills required to become an effective leader and agent of change.

The programme supports students in building expertise within a multidisciplinary public health environment. It focuses on advancing knowledge, practical skills, and approaches to teamwork, multi-agency collaboration, and community partnerships, while encouraging critical evaluation of strategies to improve public health outcomes. These competencies are highly relevant for roles within organisations such as international NGOs, local and national public health bodies, voluntary organisations, and the private sector.

Teaching is delivered by experienced academics from a range of disciplines, including research and policy, health psychology, epidemiology, sociology of health, health policy, health economics, and leadership. The course is further enriched by guest lectures from professionals working in organisations such as NHS England, the Faculty of Public Health, local government, and the voluntary sector, providing valuable insights into current practice and policy.
