What you will study

The Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) degree is meant for students looking for a fast-paced career in a high-tech world. The ECE degree will teach students how to develop new products, devices, and systems that are vital in today’s tech-hungry market. UNB was the first university to introduce engineering in Canada. Since 1894, the Electrical Engineering program has grown and benefited from this commitment. The ECE Department offers excellent teaching resources and state-of-the-art lab equipment. Also, faculty researchers are leading national and international research in: • Renewable energy (wind and solar) • Biomedical engineering • Fibre optics • Communications

Hands-on learning • UNB’s Co-op Program: This program offers attractive salaries, allowing most of the Co-op students to graduate with very low debt or even debt-free. Co-op graduates typically have job offers before they graduate because of their previous experience with employers. Previous work placements include: Altera Corp; NB Power Nuclear; Siemens; J.D. Irving Limited; Communications Security Establishment; Twin Rivers Paper Co; Bell Aliant Regional; Suncor Energy; McCain Foods; IBM Limited; NB Department of Environment; Dragonwave; and others. • Engineering Co-op and Exchange Program: the students have worked and studied in Germany, France and Norway.
