Overview
The TESOL program at Murray State University assists students in developing the necessary skills to excel as teachers of English language to non-native speakers in the school setting. The program collaborates with the College of Education to equip students for certification as PreK-12 ESL (English as a Second Language) teachers. Within the TESOL/P-12 ESL Certification Area, the department offers the B.A.
As per the Kentucky Department of Education, students in public schools across the state speak around 100 different native languages. TESOL is a rapidly growing field, and there is a critical need in Kentucky for educators trained in English as a Second Language instruction.
