Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Psychology - Sport & Exercise with Foundation Year (C814)
Canterbury Christ Church University
What you will study
A foundation year helps students develop the study skills and self-confidence needed for higher education when they do not meet the entry requirements for their chosen subject.
Psychology seeks to understand human thoughts, emotions, and behavior through scientific study methods such as observations, interviews, experiments, and questionnaires. The degree program gives students the opportunity to study a fascinating subject within the specific contexts of sport and exercise while offering numerous prospects for future development and employment.
Upon successful completion of the foundation year, students can progress to the Psychology (Sport & Exercise) degree, where they will cover all the core areas of psychology, including biological, cognitive, developmental, individual differences, social, conceptual and historical issues, and research methods.
During the course, students will engage in a “consultancy” and “research” informed experience, participating in activities linked to the consultancy unit, SportsLab, which provides scientific services for national and international athletes aiming to compete at the highest standards.
Students will also have the option to spend an additional year on professional placement between their second and third years. Choosing to study with a placement year is an excellent way to broaden and develop their experience while applying their learning to a specialist area aligned with their chosen subject. A placement will provide valuable contacts, personal development opportunities, and enhance employability.
The degree is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS), ensuring that the course is of the highest quality and offering students the opportunity to gain the BPS Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership, beginning the process of becoming a Chartered Psychologist. The chance to embark on a journey as a BPS chartered Sport and Exercise Psychologist starts here.
