What you will study

London Metropolitan University's Media and Communications (Foundation Year) BSc (Hons) degree is the perfect route into higher education if students want to work in media but don't have the necessary qualifications for an undergraduate degree. This four-year degree will give students the skills and working practices needed to start their career in the exciting and ever-evolving world of media. During the foundation year, students learn about digital media and journalism more broadly. By the end of this first year, students will understand how to critically assess the media. The skills they gain in this preparatory year will prepare them for the subsequent three years of study. As students progress through the course, they’ll learn about how media affects society from a cultural and political perspective. The forms of media students will be focusing on include the press, television, film, the internet, popular music and social media. An International Bright Futures Scholarship in the amount of £3,000 will automatically be applied to eligible students with overseas fee status starting a degree with London Met in the 2024/25 academic year. This scholarship includes a tuition fee reduction for the duration of students' studies and is applicable to both undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Tuition Deposit is £4,000 for all students excluding those from Punjab and Haryana for whom the deposit amount will remain at 50%
