Students are based in an industry-standard media centre in central Birmingham and are supported by an experienced academic team with professional industry backgrounds. The course is also informed by current research from an active popular music and music industries research community, ensuring a balance of academic knowledge and practical expertise.

The programme examines the evolving nature of music consumption, production, and interaction, particularly in response to rapid technological advancements and the growing demand for interactive media content. Through a combination of practical learning and critical analysis, students develop both music business knowledge and media production skills, alongside an understanding of national and international music industries and key sector challenges.
