Canterbury Christ Church University
What you will study
The BSc (Hons) Economics & Finance degree allows students to combine discipline-specific skills with a thorough understanding of the economic and financial challenges that confront contemporary society. They will learn how to analyze and discuss important aspects of the subject, such as microeconomics, macroeconomics, financial markets and institutions, digital, ethical, and sustainable finance, as well as how to apply theoretical and empirical analysis to major economic and financial policy issues.
Throughout the course, economic and financial issues are closely linked, and students will be exposed to a combination of qualitative and quantitative skills-building tools. This degree provides a variety of cognitive and employability skills, graduate qualities, and insights into the workplace, along with opportunities to develop collaboration, leadership, organizational, presentation, and analytical abilities.
The university is one of the few in the UK offering direct access to Bloomberg data, information, and analytics in a dedicated trading room, which includes trading simulations and asset management using dedicated Bloomberg terminals. This setup provides a simulation of what it is like to work on a real trading floor in the financial district.
Students in this course will have the opportunity to include a Professional Placement as an optional component of their degree. The skilled academic and professional team will assist them in completing their academic assignments with additional tutorial help, as well as in finding a Professional Placement that provides hands-on business experience.
The foundation year will help students broaden their industry knowledge and enable them to progress to a related undergraduate degree. It aims to establish a strong foundation of business knowledge alongside academic and transferable skills to ensure that students maximize their degree-level studies.
