Overview

The research degree is tailored at the University of Nottingham, allowing student to select their own area of interest to research, under a title of their choosing.

The Infections, Immunology, Virology, and Parasitology grouping offers PhD and MRes courses in Immunology, Virology, Parasitology, and Microbiology.

The supervisors in the school are leading researchers in their respective fields. With access to industry-standard facilities, cutting-edge equipment, and the guidance of supervisors, they will make advancements in the area of life sciences that interests them.

While their degree and research area are unique to them, examples of research conducted within the Infections, Immunology, Virology, and Parasitology fields include the development of novel antifungals, understanding the genetic basis of resistance to antifungal drugs, studying fungal infection biology, exploring interactions between bacterial and viral pathogens and human hosts, and developing immunities to these pathogens. Additionally, they have been involved in serological analysis for the Oxford vaccine trial using UoN-developed assays during the recent pandemic.
