University of Nottingham - Medical School
The research degree offered at the University of Nottingham is tailored to each individual student, allowing them to choose their own area of interest to research under a title of their choosing.
The Infections, Immunology, Virology, and Parasitology grouping at the university includes PhD and MRes courses in Immunology, Virology, Parasitology, and Microbiology. The supervisors in the school are experts in their fields and provide guidance using industry-standard facilities and cutting-edge equipment to help students advance their research in the life sciences.
While the degree and research area are customized for each student, examples of research conducted in the Infections, Immunology, Virology, and Parasitology fields include the development of novel antifungals, genetic basis of resistance to antifungal drugs, discovery of interactions between bacterial and viral pathogens and their human hosts, and serological analysis for the Oxford vaccine trial using UoN-developed assays during the recent pandemic.
