Postgraduate Certificate in Education - PGCE Primary (5-11)

London Metropolitan University - Holloway

What you will study

This exciting PGCE course leads to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and prepares students to teach five to 11-year-olds (Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2). Students will also be able to work in an Early Years setting.

London Metropolitan University's course has two modules designed to help students develop an understanding of their future role as a primary school teacher. This structure gives students room to develop their classroom practice as well as examine the underlying principles and values around educational issues.

The Curriculum Studies module introduces students to the challenges of teaching within urban, multicultural and multilingual schools. They’ll also learn how to teach core subjects including English, Mathematics and Science.

The Professionalism and Inclusive Practice (PIP) module includes two extended school placements of 11 and 13 weeks. There are clear links to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), giving students a responsible framework for meeting the needs of all the children they’ll teach.

An International Bright Futures Scholarship in the amount of £3,000 will automatically be applied to eligible students with overseas fee status starting a degree with London Met in the 2024/25 academic year. This scholarship includes a tuition fee reduction for the duration of students' studies and is applicable to both undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

Tuition Deposit is £4,000 for all students excluding those from Punjab and Haryana for whom the deposit amount will remain at 50%
