Master of Science - Sport and Exercise Nutrition

The MSc Sport and Exercise Nutrition programme is designed to equip students with the specialist skills and competencies required to begin a career as a sport and exercise nutritionist or to pursue further research in the field.

The course is delivered through a combination of taught and practice-based learning sessions led by SENr-registered sport and exercise nutrition academics. Practical components include laboratory work, field-based activities, and nutrition kitchen sessions, all aimed at developing the applied skills necessary for professional practice.

Teaching covers key areas such as sport and exercise nutrition principles, exercise metabolism, and biochemistry, providing a strong scientific foundation to support applied work. Students are encouraged to critically evaluate current research and emerging trends in the discipline, fostering an evidence-based approach to practice.

In addition, the programme offers a Professional Practice placement, enabling students to apply their knowledge and skills in real-world settings. Placement opportunities may involve working with external clients, including athletes from professional sports such as football, cricket, and rugby, as well as individuals within the wider health and exercise sector.
