What you will study

Students can gain a bachelor's degree in Social Work and play a vital role in supporting people to make positive changes in their lives. Upon graduation, they will be eligible to apply for registration as social workers, as the course is accredited by Social Work England.

Being a social worker requires a range of skills. This degree in Social Work equally blends theory and practice, enabling students to acquire the professional and critical skills necessary for success. They will engage with the latest research in social work, studying crucial theories and methods that will be employed in practice.

During their time at university, students will complete multiple contrasting placements, allowing them to apply their knowledge in real-world settings while critically analyzing and reflecting on their performance as they progress through the degree.

Furthermore, the university is the only institution in the UK to use Hydra for social work education. Students will have the opportunity to develop their skills through immersive learning. Originally developed for emergency services to enhance their skills during critical incidents, Hydra allows students to improve their practice through simulation and innovative training techniques.

In addition to prioritizing both theory and practice, the program offers multiple employability events that provide excellent networking opportunities with future employers and large organizations such as Kent County Council, NHS Mental Health Trust, and Medway Council, among others.

With strong links to the wider community and a commitment to providing high-quality and inclusive teaching, students will engage with a variety of sectors while working with an inspiring, relatable, and dedicated teaching team.
