Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Professional Policing
Canterbury Christ Church University
What you will study
Students need to complete a degree to become a police officer. This course will teach students the specialist and transferable skills needed for them to succeed in their future career. Validated by the College of Policing, the Policing degree will physically, emotionally and mentally prepare students for a life-long career in the policing sector. The University is proud to be an approved deliverer of the national policing curriculum, and students can tailor their course structure to ensure that they receive both practical and theoretical understanding of the sector.
Gain the confidence and vital skills needed to work within difficult and time-pressured situations with the simulation suites. With modern and real-life facilities, students can fully immerse themselves in a professional setting with the Criminal Justice suites, interview rooms, cells and Hydra room.
By exposing students to a variety of policing scenarios, the University prepare them for the most intense situations. This will develop their professional policing practice and teach them how to make difficult decisions using necessary skills such as critical thinking, communication and conflict management.
Students will have the opportunity to work alongside organisations such as Kent Police, Kent Fire and Rescue and the South East Coat Ambulance Service during the multi-agency major incident exercise days. Students can also take advantage of the connections with the Met Police during their career days where they can chat with professionals in the sector.
