What you will study
Students can train to become primary school teachers with a BA (Hons) in Primary Education from Canterbury Christ Church University. With a Primary Education degree, they will gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) upon completion of the course. The university is proud to be the only undergraduate teacher training provider in Kent and welcomes students to join the CCCU community.
Through a research-based approach to primary education, students will learn how to guide and support children, while understanding how to improve their lives with a practical and theoretical course structure. Emphasizing sustainability, social justice, inclusion, and diversity, the program aims to help students become the best teachers they can be.
Participants will learn to confidently implement the curriculum, manage behavior, teach students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), and engage in planning and assessment. Upon graduation, they will be equipped with the knowledge and understanding necessary to excel as teachers.
The program offers access to a range of diverse school settings within the Kent school community and encourages multiple specializations, including mathematics, art, and design technology (DT). With thousands of resources available and expert subject specialists in every area of the curriculum, students can be assured of ongoing support throughout their studies.
