Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - Creative Writing with Foundation Year (W803)

Canterbury Christ Church University

What you will study

Writing in a variety of styles, voices, and genres, students will hone their skills and explore the rich world of writing, tutored by professional writers with a deep knowledge of their craft and valuable experience of the writing industry.

Sessions are largely workshop based, with presentations and discussions stemming directly from their own work. The University believe that what makes it truly special is its small, friendly team, meaning faculty can get to know students as an individual and support them every step of the way through personal tutoring.

During the course, students will learn the skills and techniques required to write poetry, prose fiction, nonfiction (including journalism and memoir) and drama for the stage and screen. Students will also develop an understanding of the online world through topics such as social media use and digital design, and they'll have opportunities to share their work and to perform at group readings.

Students will have the opportunity to contribute to (or even edit) the student Creative Writing magazine, perform at live literature events and meet and work with industry professionals from a range of professions.
