What you will study

Students will be taking a step towards a career that is interesting, exciting, varied and challenging. Through this degree, students will have the opportunity to gain an excellent grounding in the theory, processes and procedures associated with Forensic Investigation and Policing. Students will study the practical investigation of crime to establish the facts and evidence that contribute to the resolution of crime by the police and the courts, and crime prevention.

Students will receive a specific focus on policing which will allow them to develop an in-depth understanding of the roles, functions and procedures used by the police to investigate and prevent crime. A career in forensic investigation is challenging, exciting and rewarding. It requires professionals who are inquisitive, resilient, dedicated, good at problem-solving and enjoy working in a team.

This course, which has a strong focus on policing, will provide students with an in-depth and practical insight into operational policing including police law, police powers and police procedures, while also ensuring that students understand the relationship between the police, crime and society. This will prepare students for a career in a front line job in police or forensic services, and other careers in criminal justice and beyond.
