Master of Laws - International Business Law (Professional Placement)
Birmingham City University (BCU)
What you will study
The LLM International Business Law is a course designed for graduates from any discipline, aiming to develop critically aware and professionally capable global citizens with a strong foundation in international business law. It offers an opportunity to build specialist knowledge of the legal aspects of cross-border business activities, exploring the regulation of international commerce from the perspectives of traders, corporations, individuals, and entrepreneurs. The course examines business models that operate across borders and addresses how commercial disputes are resolved when agreements involve multiple parties from different jurisdictions. It also considers complex international issues related to digital business models and data.
In addition, the programme provides insight into the role of artificial intelligence in relation to laws that function both nationally and internationally, and their impact on business and professional practice. Contemporary topics involving technology, law, algorithms, and ethics are also explored. The course encourages a critical understanding of how business and law intersect, incorporating perspectives from economics, philosophy, and business ethics. Students are taught by a team of active researchers specialising in areas such as international business law, competition law, dispute resolution, and corporate law, with research interests including the intersection of technology and business law, dispute settlement at both international and national levels, European Union legal capital rules, and the impact of digitisation on intellectual property law.
