Bachelor of Engineering - Product Design Engineering

Canterbury Christ Church University

What you will study

The hands-on learning throughout the course developed on and off campus and through on-line learning will develop students' practical problem-solving approach. This makes up 40-60% of each year of study so they can be confident, work-ready engineers by the time they graduate.

Students will start by learning the essentials of mechanical related engineering, engineering evaluation, concept generation, design, prototype and testing real problems. Students will also develop their confidence in applying the fundamental science (laws of physics), mathematics and statistics principles, and computing skills in context to engineering. Through on and off campus and on-line learning, engineering laboratories and workshops students will put theory into practice and they'll have the opportunity to work collaboratively on a group project in their first year.

As students progress through the degree, they'll be supported to gain specialist skills and knowledge in areas such as engineering product life cycle, CAD tools, Industry 4.0 technology, manufacturing control, instrumentation, and communication systems

In the final year, students will work independently and collaboratively as part of a team on a major design engineering project.
