Human Resource Management is the set of tasks used to effectively manage the organization’s most important resource—human resources (HR). As a human resource professional you may be responsible for one or more of the key organizational components of compensation, benefits, training and development, staffing, strategic HR management or other HR functions.

The Human Resource Management track at Murray State University has been recognized and endorsed by the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) as a program that delivers the necessary competencies to be successful in the HR field, and as preparation for the professional assessment exam offered by SHRM. The academic program is complemented by SHRM affiliations with a student chapter, professional chapter, and faculty linked to national SHRM and international human resource management standards bodies.

In addition Murray State has earned approval as a pre-approved provider of recertification through HRCI for professionals wishing to recertify their professional certification (PHR, SPHR, GPHR, received authorization from the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI). All academic programs in the management area are accredited by AACSB-International (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business).
