What you will study
The BEng (Hons) Electrical and Electronic Engineering degree is designed to prepare students for a future-focused career in engineering through an industry-led and practical approach to learning.
The course takes an alternative approach to traditional teaching methods, with no formal lectures or exams. Instead, students learn through hands-on, project-based activities that address real-world engineering challenges across sectors such as telecommunications, renewable energy, electrical power, robotics, and advanced manufacturing.
Developed in collaboration with industry partners, the programme ensures that graduates gain both core technical knowledge and essential employability skills, including communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership. This prepares students for a wide range of career opportunities in areas such as electric vehicles, robotics, consumer electronics, and medical technologies.
The course also offers an optional professional placement year, providing the opportunity to gain valuable industry experience between the second and third years of study. Students are responsible for securing their placement, supported by the university’s careers services and employer networks. Those who successfully obtain a placement can transfer to the placement version of the course.
