Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - Jewellery and Objects

The Jewellery and objects degree is a highly regarded programme that encourages students to experiment with materials, techniques, and processes while developing an innovative and individual approach to the discipline. The course supports creative exploration, challenging conventions and pushing the boundaries of contemporary jewellery design.

Students develop practical making skills alongside intellectual engagement and critical thinking. An emphasis is placed on creative problem-solving, with a focus on experimentation and a questioning approach to materials, concepts, and outcomes.

Individuality is central to the programme, supporting students in defining their own creative identity, philosophy, and direction. The School of Jewellery is located in the heart of Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter, providing direct access to a vibrant industry environment and opportunities for engagement with professional practice.

An optional professional placement year is available between the second and third years of study, offering valuable industry experience. Students are responsible for securing their placement, supported by the university’s careers services and employer networks. Those who successfully obtain a placement can transfer to the placement version of the course.
