Overview

Bishop’s University offers graduate programs designed for educators and professionals seeking advanced study and professional growth. Students may apply to the Master of Education (M.Ed.), a course-based program, or the Master of Arts in Educational Studies (M.A.), a thesis-based program. Individuals interested in exploring educational topics without immediate commitment to a degree may also enroll as General Interest graduate students, with the option to apply for a degree later and transfer relevant course credits.

As one of only three English-language universities in Quebec—and the only one located outside Montreal—Bishop’s University provides a distinctive graduate-level experience for educators and professionals eager to engage with contemporary challenges in education.

Small, diverse classes foster a strong sense of academic community, allowing graduate students to connect with peers from around the world and expand their learning well beyond the classroom. The program’s collaborative environment encourages students to share their passion for teaching and learning under the mentorship of dedicated and experienced professors.

Master of Arts in Educational Studies

The Master of Arts in Educational Studies is a thesis-based program ideal for students interested in developing a focused research inquiry culminating in a written thesis. Graduates of this program may choose to continue their academic journey at the doctoral level.

The program comprises 45 credits, including 21 course credits, 3 credits for the thesis proposal, and 21 thesis credits. Based on their research focus, students are matched with a faculty supervisor who provides mentorship and guidance throughout the development and completion of their project.
