Overview
The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's Mathematics department offers both Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees in mathematics with concentrations in applied and computational mathematics, taught jointly by the mathematics department and college of engineering.
The program requires a core of math computing courses and emphasizes the applied mathematics areas. This program allows the student a large choice of electives within the context of applied and computational mathematics. Graduates can thus pursue special interests in any particular phase of applied and computational mathematics.
The program curriculum offers flexibility, allowing students to concentrate in their areas of interest. They will have a wide selection of courses to choose from, including algebra, calculus, computational mathematics, geometry, probability, simulations, and statistics.
A Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Arts degree in Applied & Computational Mathematics (MTHC) allows the student to enter graduate programs that specialize in computing-oriented mathematics or enter industrial employment where physical and industrial problems are analyzed mathematically.
