The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's Mathematics department offers both Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees in mathematics with concentrations in applied statistics and applied & computational mathematics, as well as a degree in data science, taught jointly by the mathematics department and college of engineering.
Students will learn in-depth skills in mathematics and statistics to work as an applied statistician in a variety of industries, government, or nonprofit agencies, or for graduate studies. They will also gain effective communication skills for the presentation of analysis or results.
The Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts - Mathematics in Applied Statistics is designed to educate and train students in the applications of data analysis and computational statistics. Graduates acquire in-depth knowledge and skills in statistical analyses and computing to work as an applied statistician in a variety of industries, government, or nonprofit agencies or for graduate studies. Students also gain effective communication skills for the presentation of analysis or results.
