Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Ecology and Conservation (CFC8)

University of Brighton - Moulsecoomb

What you will study

The Ecology and Conservation degree program delves into the fundamental principles of conservation and biological diversity in both marine and terrestrial ecosystems. Emphasis is placed on habitat and species survey techniques, practical management, and conservation strategies.

The program fosters hands-on and experiential learning opportunities. Fieldwork expeditions in each year of the course allow students to explore the diverse local environment and engage in international excursions, such as to Portugal. Additionally, an optional international trip to South Africa provides firsthand experience with indigenous species and examines issues pertaining to habitat, species management, and conservation.

Practical skills are honed in specialized laboratories, and scientific research capabilities are enhanced through collaborations with faculty members. Students conduct research aligned with their interests or practical conservation challenges, guided by course instructors who are renowned experts in their respective fields, including ecology and conservation, human-wildlife interactions, zoonotic disease, behavior, ecosystems and environmental management, and marine ecology.
