Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Biomedical Science (B900)
London Metropolitan University - Holloway
What you will study
The Biomedical Science BSc is designed to help students play a key role in identifying diseases, monitoring treatment and undertaking research into infectious diseases and other pathologies. This course gives students the academic competencies required by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and is accredited by the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS). The subjects covered during the course are similar to the pre-clinical components of a medical degree, with topics including the structure and function of biological fluids, cells and tissues, and the relationship between bodily systems and health, disease and the environment. The study programme is designed so that core modules are delivered over two whole days per week, enabling students to juggle lectures with study and other responsibilities. The first year will include an introduction to the key principles of biomedical science and place a heavy focus on developing the necessary laboratory skills and data manipulations. An International Bright Futures Scholarship in the amount of £3,000 will automatically be applied to eligible students with overseas fee status starting a degree with London Met in the 2024/25 academic year. This scholarship includes a tuition fee reduction for the duration of students' studies and is applicable to both undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Tuition Deposit is £4,000 for all students excluding those from Punjab and Haryana for whom the deposit amount will remain at 50%
