Master of Science - Public Health

Public health is a critical global concern, demanding skilled professionals capable of addressing complex and evolving challenges. This master’s programme is designed to equip students with in-depth subject knowledge and advanced research tools, enabling them to analyse key public health issues and contribute effectively to the improvement of health and wellbeing at local, national, and international levels.

Jointly delivered by the Faculty of Human and Digital Sciences and the Faculty of Education and Social Sciences, the programme draws on the strengths of two leading academic disciplines. It forms part of an established suite of undergraduate, master’s, and PhD programmes, fostering a vibrant academic community focused on public health and social care. This multidisciplinary approach provides students with a broad and integrated understanding of the dynamics of public health and the practical skills to enact meaningful change across diverse contexts.

Graduates will gain a comprehensive understanding of the foundational pillars of modern public health—prevention, promotion, and protection. The programme offers advanced training in both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, enabling students to investigate and address pressing public health issues. In addition, students will engage critically with contemporary models of leadership, service delivery, and management in the public health sector. By the end of the course, graduates will be prepared to design, implement, and evaluate high-quality public health interventions, positioning them to lead transformative efforts that promote health equity and enhance community wellbeing worldwide.
