What you will study
The BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing degree is designed to prepare students for a professional career in nursing, providing the clinical skills, knowledge, and practical experience required to deliver high-quality care. Students undertake placements in a variety of settings, including hospitals, community environments, home care, and simulated practice environments, across the West Midlands and beyond.
The course is approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), enabling graduates to apply for Registered Nurse status upon successful completion.
The programme aims to develop adaptable and competent nurses who can meet the diverse health needs of individuals across the lifespan. Students are supported in becoming skilled, knowledgeable, and emotionally intelligent practitioners, capable of delivering compassionate, evidence-based, person- and family-centred care while working effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
During the first two years, university-based learning is integrated across all fields of nursing, providing a broad foundation. In the final year, study becomes more specialised, focusing specifically on adult nursing. Each year of the course includes a combination of theoretical study and practice-based learning, with an emphasis on building confidence, competence, and the ability to lead and coordinate care in professional settings.
The degree equips graduates with the clinical expertise, professional values, and practical experience required for a career in adult nursing.
