Overview

The MA in Peace and Conflict Studies is ideal for those interested in understanding the complexities of new regional conflicts and global destabilisation, while maintaining a strong focus on peacebuilding, conflict resolution, and the advancement of global social justice. This programme offers students an in-depth exploration of contemporary wars and conflicts—particularly in Europe and the Middle East—alongside practical and theoretical pathways toward sustainable peace.

Students will engage with a wide range of topics, including the theories and dynamics of conflict, strategies for conflict resolution, post-conflict reconstruction, and the roles played by states, international organisations, and political actors from both the Global North and Global South. The course encourages critical reflection on how global balance can be restored by addressing exploitation, global inequalities, and environmental degradation—factors that particularly threaten the survival of indigenous communities around the world.

With a strong feminist and anti-racist perspective, the programme distinguishes itself through its commitment to a socially just and contemporary curriculum, delivered in a student-centred and supportive environment. Students are also offered the opportunity to collaborate with external organisations for their dissertations, providing valuable industry connections and enhancing employability. Graduates will be well prepared for careers in global institutions, NGOs, and charities focused on promoting social justice, particularly in the Global South.
