Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - Popular Music with Foundation Year (W341)
Canterbury Christ Church University
What you will study
A foundation year helps students develop the study skills and self-confidence needed for higher education when they do not meet the entry requirements for their chosen subject.
The Popular Music degree from CCCU will immerse students in a vibrant culture of music-making that fosters collaboration and creativity, teaching them the essential skills and processes that underpin performance technique and music creation.
Students will explore areas such as:
• Rehearsal and performance technique • One-to-one instrumental/vocal lessons • DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) and studio recording • Songwriting and media composition • Developing crucial collaboration skills
Moreover, students will learn in the purpose-built creative arts building, Daphne Oram, which houses the latest recording facilities, including professional-grade rehearsal, recording, and performance spaces.
Not only will they gain expertise in their chosen area of popular music, but they will also have the opportunity to collaborate with students from other courses in the School of Creative Arts and Industries, introducing them to working with other professionals in the field.
Students will network with other musicians and professionals in the industry while being taught by staff who are passionate about music and who have worked with internationally recognized artists, bands, and clients.
The university recognizes that employers are looking for dynamic, open-minded graduates who can adapt, innovate, and collaborate. Therefore, a new approach to teaching and learning has been designed to ensure that students are work-ready upon graduation.
