A-Level - Physics

Cheshire College South and West - Crewe

What you will study

Physics is crucial to understanding the world around us, the world inside us, and the world beyond us. It is the most basic and fundamental science, challenging imaginations with concepts like relativity and string theory, and it leads to great discoveries like computers and lasers, which change human lives. In the A Level, students will study everything from stellar astrophysics right down to particles and radiation.

Moreover, it's the basis of many other sciences, including chemistry, oceanography, seismology, and astronomy. Cheshire College's results have been well above the national average for the last five years and are among the best in the country. Students will be taught by dedicated and enthusiastic teachers, qualified to PhD level, with experience of working in industry and academia.

In recent years, trips have been organized to the nearby Jodrell Bank and Keele University. Last year, as part of the Honours programme, A1 Physics students attended practical sessions and lectures at the University of Lancaster, and benefitted from visiting lecturers from Lancaster and elsewhere giving presentations on topical research.
