Overview
The International Year Zero in Health and Life Sciences provides international students with a structured route towards the BSc (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography degree. The programme combines foundational knowledge in health and life sciences with the academic and transferable skills required for successful undergraduate study. Students develop an understanding of relevant scientific and health-related concepts while strengthening their skills in research, academic writing, communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, numeracy and independent learning. The programme also helps students adapt to the UK higher education environment and become familiar with university teaching, learning and assessment methods. Through structured academic support, students can build confidence and prepare for progression into professional healthcare education. Following successful completion of the International Year Zero and meeting the required progression conditions, students can continue to the BSc (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography degree. The undergraduate programme can provide opportunities to explore medical imaging, diagnostic procedures, patient care, professional practice and safe working principles. Students can develop knowledge of the role of radiography in healthcare while strengthening technical, communication and teamwork skills. This pathway is suitable for international students interested in medical imaging, healthcare technology and patient care who want additional academic preparation before beginning undergraduate diagnostic radiography study and developing future professional opportunities in healthcare and diagnostic services.
