What you will study
The BA (Hons) Business Management degree is designed to provide practical, skills-based learning that prepares students for a wide range of career opportunities within the dynamic and evolving world of business. The programme develops knowledge across core business and management functions, building confidence and enabling graduates to pursue careers in areas such as business consultancy, government, or entrepreneurship.
A strong emphasis is placed on emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, as well as employability and sustainability, ensuring students are well prepared for modern business environments. The course aims to develop adaptable, innovative, and agile professionals capable of responding to change and driving organisational success.
Students benefit from the use of an Assessment Centre that mirrors recruitment processes used by major organisations, helping them to develop key employability skills such as CV writing, interview techniques, and psychometric testing. The programme also supports entrepreneurial ambitions through dedicated modules, as well as access to business incubation and mentorship opportunities via STEAMhouse.
The course is accredited by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), providing students with industry-relevant knowledge and the opportunity to gain a professional certificate upon successful completion.
Teaching is delivered through interactive and experiential learning methods, including simulations and engagement with real-world business clients. Students develop skills in negotiation, data analysis, leadership, and project management, while also gaining an understanding of contemporary and international business markets. The programme explores key areas such as human resource management, finance, strategic planning, and cultural awareness, alongside the impact of digital transformation and the ethical considerations associated with modern business practices.
The course also offers an optional professional placement year, allowing students to gain valuable industry experience after completing their second year. Students are supported in securing placements through the university’s careers services and employer networks, and may transfer to the placement version of the course once a suitable opportunity is obtained.
