Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Politics

Canterbury Christ Church University

What you will study

This innovative and cutting-edge Politics course will give students the opportunity to make better sense of the complex and murky world of politics. It will enrich their understanding of some of the most pressing problems and injustices which plague politics and society today. It will also equip students with the knowledge and skills to think about these problems in a critical manner, as well as with the capacity to formulate novel responses to these.

This practical course will give students the opportunity to interact with real-world problems through simulation and networking with professionals and academic staff who are still heavily involved in active research and industry. Students will gain both a theoretical and practical understanding of politics, which will readily prepare them for the world of work upon graduation.

Those who are enthusiastic about the ways in which the world works or, perhaps, disillusioned with the ways in which it does not, this stimulating course will enable students to develop their knowledge of contemporary political problems, theories, issues and debates, and will equip students with a range of invaluable transferable skills.

Politics graduates have gone on to enter a variety of roles in sectors such as national or international government, leading non-governmental organisations in London, Brussels and other European capital states, journalism, law, teaching, and graduate training schemes in the public and private sectors. Five of the graduates have worked as assistants to MPs in Westminster. A high proportion of students also go on to study at postgraduate level, some are currently completing funded PhD research.
