Master of Science - Construction Project Management (Professional Placement)
Birmingham City University (BCU)
What you will study
The MSc Construction Project Management is designed to prepare graduates for managing complex projects within a rapidly evolving and globalised construction industry. The programme addresses the need for skilled professionals capable of responding to industry challenges and delivering effective project outcomes.
Accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), the course provides a comprehensive grounding in the principles of construction project management. It equips students with the knowledge and practical skills required to organise, manage, and deliver construction projects successfully. Graduates have progressed into roles with organisations such as Turner & Townsend, Miller Construction, and Acivico.
The programme is suitable for graduates from disciplines including surveying, construction, architecture, civil engineering, and real estate, as well as experienced practitioners without a first degree, subject to an entrance assessment and interview.
Students develop an understanding of key industry areas, including construction law and contracts, sustainability, business management, project management, and innovation. Building Information Modelling (BIM) is integrated into the curriculum to support modern, collaborative project delivery approaches.
Teaching is delivered by experienced academic and industry professionals, supported by ongoing research into current construction practices and developments. Guest speakers from industry contribute to the learning experience, and strong links with regional employers—including Willmott Dixon, Galliford Try, and Birmingham City Council—help ensure industry relevance.
