Integrated Foundation - Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Biomedical Science

The BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science with Foundation Year is an Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS)-accredited, practice-led degree that provides insight into human biology, health, and disease. The course develops practical and analytical skills through hands-on experience in modern life sciences laboratories, preparing students for a range of careers in biomedical science and related fields.

Accreditation by the IBMS enables graduates to pursue careers within the NHS as trainee Biomedical Scientists, with the opportunity to complete the IBMS registration training portfolio and progress towards professional registration with the Health and Care Professions Council.

The four-year programme includes a Foundation Year, designed to support the transition into degree-level study in health sciences. This preparatory stage develops essential academic, interpersonal, and professional skills, providing a strong platform for further study. On successful completion of the Foundation Year, students are guaranteed progression onto the full Biomedical Science degree, with the option to apply for other health-related courses subject to availability and entry requirements.
