What you will study
Criminology is the study of crime, its causes and effects, and what people do about it. At Liverpool Hope University, students will study how crime is defined and who defines it, why some people commit offences, and what happens to those who commit crimes if they are caught. Criminology also studies the impact of the various agencies and organizations that deal with crime: the police, the courts, the probation and prison services, as well as the role of the Ministry of Justice and the Home Office. Criminology is a well-established degree at Liverpool Hope University and is taught by staff with considerable experience at national and international level. Several key criminological textbooks are written by members of the School. The Criminology team is enthusiastic and dedicated and will help students to get the most out of their degree. Information Technology is a rapidly changing and exciting subject. Organizations are increasingly relying on information technology to carry out key business functions. There is an explosion in the use of mobile devices to shop online and there is a high demand for skilled professionals who are able to effectively manage information systems. Well-designed software applications that are effective and usable are a crucial requirement for employers. This Information Technology degree prepares students to meet the needs of a wide range of organizations, emphasizing the development of a variety of technologies, especially web and mobile technologies that are increasingly becoming a part of everyday lives. During their studies, students will have opportunities to develop computational thinking and a systems approach to formulating, analyzing and solving complex problems.
