Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Pharmacology (B210)

London Metropolitan University - Holloway

What you will study

This course focuses on how chemical compounds interact with living systems, looking particularly at drugs and their effects on disease. If students want to be involved in developing or testing new safe drugs for illnesses, or the analysis of pharmacological data, this practical degree will teach them the key laboratory and analytical skills in London Metropolitan University's cutting-edge Science Centre and in the classroom. Students will learn about the way molecules act on receptors to produce particular effects in the body, and use this information to understand how compounds can be used to treat disease. They’ll look at examples such as the way antipsychotic drugs are used to treat schizophrenia and the types of drugs used to treat high blood pressure. They’ll also study drug development and screening, as well as how to best analyse pharmacological data. An International Bright Futures Scholarship in the amount of £3,000 will automatically be applied to eligible students with overseas fee status starting a degree with London Met in the 2024/25 academic year. This scholarship includes a tuition fee reduction for the duration of students' studies and is applicable to both undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Tuition Deposit is £4,000 for all students excluding those from Punjab and Haryana for whom the deposit amount will remain at 50%
